Scientifically, the Last Quarter phase occurs when the orbital angle between the Sun, Earth, and Moon forces a physical projection of solar light striking exactly a selected proportion of our sister planet’s face.
As the moon revolves around Earth every 29.53 days, sunlight moves from right to left (across the Northern Hemisphere), producing sequential increments or decrements in active optical illumination.
